Tyler Kelley - Associate Director of Admissions and Stewardship at The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University

Thursday, April 04, 2019

Tyler Kelley first became inspired to give back to IU through his interactions with incoming students. As a Resident Assistant for the Groups Scholars Program, Kelley worked with incoming scholars to help ease their transition to a college environment. In doing so, Kelley discovered a deep passion for helping underserved students, specifically those who came from a similar background as he did. It was this experience that inspired Kelley about the possibilities of an IU education and motivated him to get involved with philanthropy.

“Serving as a Groups RA was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in my life. It taught me the importance of giving my time and talents and showed me that our lives have the power to make a positive change in the world,” Kelley said.

Today, Kelley serves as the associate director of Admissions and Stewardship at The Kelley School of Business, where he continues to prepare the way for generations of students from underserved communities. In addition, he continues to be involved in philanthropic projects at OVPDEI and across the university. In doing so, Kelley pays homage to the formative experiences that shaped him during his time with the Groups Scholars Program, as well as the foundational impact IU has had on his own life.

“I give back to IU because of all that IU has done for me,” Kelley said. “I received life-long friends, intentional support, and a brighter future. Because of IU, I am better. Because I am better, others in my community are better.”
