Making IU a Better Place for All of Us

Grants will be awarded to projects that make Indiana University more welcoming, equitable, and accessible for the Black community. The BPC believes diversity, inclusion and equity are indispensable elements of an IU education and is unequivocally committed to taking a leadership role in making an IU education as universally accessible as possible to the Black community.

The BPC is committed to continuous improvement of the recruitment, retention, and support of Black students by supporting grants, education, research, programs, and career opportunities.

The BPC is also committed to continuous improvement of the recruitment, representation and support of Black faculty and staff. The BPC facilitates coordination of programs and supports initiatives to strengthen the engagement of Black alumni and friends of the university.

Apply for a Black Philanthropy Circle Grant

We invite you to share your ideas with us by submitting a BPC grant application. Your application should specifically focus on the ways in which the Black community at IU will be supported by your project. We are looking for proposals that aim to make IU a more equitable, welcoming, and accessible university for the Black community.

Any Indiana University student, faculty, staff, or unit with a vision and capacity to manage grant money are encouraged to apply.

Application Timeline

Applications for the 2025-2026 grant cycle are available between November 1, 2024, and February 2, 2025.

In addition to applying for a Black Philanthropy Circle grant, your project is welcome to apply for funds from the Queer Philanthropy Circle and/or the Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council. The single application is inclusive of all three.
